Hawks deck Bears

NORTH ENGLISH — On the road Thursday, Lynnville-Sully High’s Hawks netted a South Iowa Cedar League conference win. The Hawks kept host English Valleys’ Bears winless with a 25-18, 25-13, 25-21 victory.

The Hawks served at a 95-percent clip, 82-of-86, with seven ace served against the Bears. They delivered 39 kills.

Carson Fisk was credited with 30 set assists for the net attack. Brenna Lanser and Jataya Meyer each downed nine kills in the match while Jelissa Rozendaal had eight kills. Shiloh Cunningham racked up seven kills.

Putting down two kills each for the Hawks were Fisk, Oliva Ritter and Camryn Russell. Cunningham and Fisk each put up one solo block at the net. Lanser and Ritter combined for a block.

Russell was perfect at the service line, 16-of-16, while Fisk went 17-of-19 and Lanser was 17-of-18. Cunningham, Fisk and Skyler Young had two ace serves apiece, and Lanser had one ace serve.

Lynnville-Sully evened its SICL record to 3-3. The Hawks improved to 9-6 overall. They host Tri-County at 5:30 p.m. Monday in conference play.

English Valleys is 0-5 in SICL play and 0-13 overall.
