Newton Police Department
• Emily N. Biehn, 21, of Newton, is charged with fifth-degree theft after authorities were called at 2:12 p.m. Sept. 18 to 1018 First Ave. E. Officers were called to Casey’s about Biehn, who was on video footage taking money from the cash drawer and placing it in her pocket. After checking the deposits, it was found to be short $176. She was cited and released to appear.
• Heather L. Learn, 37, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 1:50 p.m. Thursday to the 100 block of East Fourth Street North. Learn approached the victim and immediately started arguing with him and hit him in the face. She was cited and released to appear.
• Dean D. Rusher, 51, of Newton, was arrested on a Polk County warrant after authorities were called at 2:20 p.m. Sept. 20 to the adult probation office. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Stephanie L. Yoakum, 42, of Newton, was arrested on two Jasper County warrants after she turned herself in at 9:41 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Newton Police Department. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Jeremy J. Jones, 23, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities were called at 7:39 p.m. Sept. 20 to 702 First Ave. E. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Laura S. Pushetonequa, 40, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorizers pulled her over at 6:24 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North Second Avenue East. She was cited and released to appear.
• Melvin Q. Boyd, 28, of Newton, is charged with interference with official acts after authorities were called at 1:15 a.m. Saturday to 1024 E. 12th St. N. Officers were called about a fight and a man who broke a vehicle window to get a woman. Officers found Boyd, who refused to identify himself. He also resisted arrest while being handcuffed and placed in a patrol car. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Dabreshia D. Barnes, 35, of Newton, is charged with interference with official acts and James A. Garland, 36, of Newton, is charged with disorderly conduct after authorities were called at 1:55 a.m. Saturday to Scoreboard bar. Officers were called about people in the street. A woman, identified as Barnes, was yelling as officers attempted to separate people. She continued to attempt to confront people and officers had to physically restrain her. She pulled away and continued to try to confront people. Officers also identified Garland as an initiator of the fight. He continued to shout and tried to approach people even while officers asked him to stop. Both were taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Tyler D. Koder, 25, of Monroe, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 1:31 a.m. Sunday at 1205 W. 19th St. S. While being arrested, officers found syringes, snort tubes, a spoon and plastic bags used for drugs in the vehicle. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Office
Linda J. Bennett, 58, of Baxter, was charged with a serious misdemeanor Sept. 21 after police were called to a scene where another woman claimed to have been struck with a pipe by Bennett. Bennett told police she arrived at the residence, which is her home, to find the victim asleep on her couch. She said she tried to wake the victim up and get her out of the house and shoved the victim in the process. The victim said Bennett hit her in the back of the head with a pipe. The victim showed police a red mark behind her left ear. Bennett was arrested then released from Jasper County Jail on a $500 bond.
