Hawks knock off Warhawks

NEW SHARON — Lynnville-Sully’s Hawks pulled out a South Iowa Cedar League volleyball victory on the road Monday. The Hawks beat host North Mahaska’s Warhawks 25-15, 12-25, 25-18, 25-23.

The Hawks served 96 percent, 99-of-103, as a team for the match. They had 13 service aces led by Brenna Lanser with seven aces. Carson Fisk served up four aces and Camryn Russell served two aces.

Jelissa Rozendaal was big defensively with 30 digs. Lanser came up with 20 digs and Fisk had 17 digs. Makayla Rozendaal made 15 digs while McKinley Conover had 10 digs and Russell made 14 digs.

At the net, Lanser delivered nine kills and two block assists and Jataya Meyer had eight kills. Jelissa Rozendaal had four kills while Fisk and Shiloh Cunningham each had two kills. Russell had three kills and Oliva Ritter made one kill.

Cunningham was credited with two solo blocks and Fisk had one solo block. Fisk came up with 23 set assists in the match.

Lanser was perfect at the service line, going 27-of-27, as was Jelissa Rozendaal — 9-of-9. Fisk went 27-of-28 serving while Russell was 16-of-17 and Conover was 14-of-15.

Lynnville-Sully improved to 2-3 in SICL action and 8-6 overall. The Hawks play at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at English Valleys in a conference match.
