CMB loses to Van Meter

VAN METER — The first three sets of a non-conference volleyball match featuring Collins-Maxwell/Baxter and Van Meter could have gone either way.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, Van Meter used the momentum it gained in the third set to pull away in the fourth during a four-game win Monday night.

The Bulldogs (9-6) pulled off the win 31-29, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14.

Junior Brianda Bane led the Raiders with nine kills and four aces and she was 16-of-16 in serves. Junior Sailor Hinegardner was 17-of-18 in serves with three aces, and she finished with a team-high 18 digs.

Senior Kathleen Baldwin contributed 24 assists and eight digs, while senior Bekah Pearson collected seven kills and 15 digs. Freshman Amber Weltha and juniors Jordynn Wesselink and Elizabeth Balke all had six kills apiece.

Wesselink finished with 14 digs. Baldwin and junior Lexi Ewing each had two of the Raiders’ 12 aces.

CMB (5-6) returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday when it hosts Class 3A No. 13 North Polk in Maxwell.
