Warriors clip Hawks in five-set SICL match

SULLY — It was odds and evens Thursday at Lynnville-Sully High School in a South Iowa Cedar League conference volleyball match.

Lynnville-Sully’s Hawks ran out of a gas in a five-set match against visiting HLV. The Warriors won the first and third sets while the Hawks netted wins in sets No. 2 and No. 4 to force a deciding fifth set.

The fifth set was odd, so with the pattern holding true, the Warriors claimed the win. HLV handed Lynnville-Sully its second straight conference loss, 25-18, 20-25, 25-14, 20-25, 15-2.

Brenna Lanser was credited with 33 digs on the night for the Hawks. She also delivered 10 kills, one solo block and two assisted blocks at the net. Lanser went 25-of-28 serving with four ace serves.

Carson Fisk put up 19 set assists, and had eight digs. Fisk was 22-of-26 at the service line with two ace serves. She had two kills and one block assist.

Jataya Meyer downed five kills, one solo block and one block assist at the net. She was 7-of-7 serving with one ace. Camryn Russell had four kills, 10 digs and two block assists. Russell was 15-of-15 serving.

Olivia Ritter, Shiloh Cunningham and Makenzy Rozendaal each had two kills while McKinley Conover and Jelissa Rozendaal had one kills apiece. Cunningham and Jelissa Rozendaal each made one solo block and one block assist. Ritter made a solo block.

Jelissa Rozendaal came up with 12 digs, and Cunningham had eight digs. Makenzy Rozendaal had five digs and Conover had four digs. Makenzy Rozendaal went 11-of-13 serving with two aces. Rtter and Cunningham each had one ace serve.

Lynnville-Sully fell to 1-3 in SICL action and is 7-6 overall. The Hawks play at 5:30 p.m. Monday against North Mahaska in New Sharon.
