Help improve Jasper County, support UWJC

Nineteen years ago, Kid Assist of Jasper County was looking for funding to get started on its mission: improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities by loaning leisure, recreational and other adapted equipment they might not otherwise be able to obtain. We approached Newton United Way and received an initial grant of $5,000. At that time, Kid Assist received 100 percent of its funding from Newton United Way. Since 1997, Newton United Way broadened to become United Way of Jasper County. Kid Assist now relies on United Way of Jasper County for only 50 percent or less of its funding. Since we are an all volunteer organization, we rely on United Way to help us get the word out about our program.

Last year, United Way of Jasper County allocated more than $225,000 to 16 nonprofits to provide 23 health and human services programs to Jasper County citizens. You can help these programs improve the quality of life of persons served by making your donation now through Nov. 11 during Jasper County’s Annual Campaign. Call Jessica Lowe UWJC  Executive Director at 641-792-1684 with questions about obtaining a pledge form.
