Breckenridge is committed to House District 29

Thanks to a Republican governor, supported by a Republican controlled Iowa House, the state of Iowa is among the states with the worst air and water quality, a minimum wage that is not a living wage, along with disparity between male and female wages, privatized Medicaid that is a total mess, the closure of mental health facilities and the total disregard for those who need professional support for mental health issues, the shortage of nursing home inspections in Iowa, the give away of millions of our tax dollars to foreign and domestic corporations that only create a handful of jobs, and a total lack of adequate funding for public school funding. We cannot elect legislators who home school their children and believe they are concerned about public school funding.

For these concerns and more, I am supporting Wes Breckenridge for state representative, Iowa House District 29. Wes will work to improve the quality of Iowa’s air and water in our rivers, streams and lakes. Wes will work to raise Iowa’s minimum wage and close the gap between male and female wages. Wes has observed first-hand the mess made by privatizing Medicaid and will work to correct this windfall given to three private corporations. And as a Newton law enforcement officer, West has first-hand experience dealing with individuals with mental health issues and will work to correct Branstad’s mistake. Wes also knows by reducing the number of nursing home inspectors, there is little or next to no oversight of nursing homes in Iowa. Wes will work to correct this problem. While it is important to create jobs in Iowa it is also just as important to be concerned about tax dollar give away. Wes will work to create good-paying jobs while avoiding corporate welfare. Wes is well aware that inadequate school funding had caused our education system to fall behind and Wes supports our great teachers who provide an education to students. Wes is a strong supporter of veterans and the need for funding for veterans’ issues.

Through his 25 years of public service — 23 years Newton Police Department, as school resource officer, DARE instructor, drug task force officer, police department events co-coordinator, traffic information officer, public information officer, interim police chief, Prairie City police officer, Jasper County Sheriff’s resources deputy, DMACC adjunct instructor — Wes Breckenridge has more than proven his commitment to our community and Iowa District 29.

Join me, Nov. 8 in support of Wes Breckenridge, a true Democrat, to represent Iowa House District 29.
