Constitution Week is Sept. 17-23

I would like to remind everyone that it is once again, the week that our United States Constitution was signed. It was signed Sept. 17, 1787 at the Pennsylvania State House (now Independence Hall) in Philadelphia, Pa. at 4 p.m.

I’m writing just to make sure each one of us doesn’t forget the brave patriots in our own families who fought and maybe gave their lives, so we can have the freedoms we so enjoy in the U.S. today. Each generation has done its part to make sure we are free, and we thank you all for the service. Let’s never forget any sacrifice given.

I would also like to thank all the Newton school principals for participating in the Constitution pledge to mention something about the Constitution to their kids next week. Again thanks one and all. I would also like to thank Linda Kleplinger and Peck Day Care Center for their participation in the fun as the kids have drawn pictures of what they believe the Constitution and freedom means to them. It’s a must see. Their pictures are being displayed at H&R Block (thank you Ione) and the Newton Public Library whom I also would like to thank for letting us use their beautiful windows to display in. Last but not least, trace your family tree back and see if you have a patriot or two in your family line. It’s fun. You may just be surprised how heroic your family was. All American patriots were brave. They had to be.
