Hawks go 2-2 in tourney

NEW SHARON — Lynnville-Sully’s volleyball team came away with a 2-2 mark in action at Saturday’s North Mahaska Invitational.

The Hawks notched wins over Waco — 21-10, 21-14 — and HLV — 21-18, 19-21, 15-8. They lost to two Little Hawk Conference teams, Pella Christian — 21-4, 21-10 — and Grinnell — 25-13, 25-9.

Lynnville-Sully served at a 90-percent clip as a team for the tournament. The Hawks went 154-of-171 from the service in for the four matches. In the loss to Grinnell, the Hawks were perfect, 24-of-24, serving. Of the team’s 23 serving aces, 14 came against Waco.

Brenna Lanser served up 10 aces as she went 43-of-47 from the service line. Camryn Russell had a 30-of-34 run at the service line for the tournament with two aces. Carson Fisk went 26-of-30 with five aces.

Jelissa Rozendaal was 18-of-20 serving with one ace, and McKinley Conover had a perfect 15-of-15 serving with one ace. Shiloh Cunningham went 14-of-16 and had four ace serves. Olivia Ritter was 6-of-7 serving.

Fisk was credited with 44 set assists as Lanser led the net attack with 22 kills. Jataya Meyer delivered 12 kills while Russell and Ritter each had six kills.

Jelissa Rozendaal added five kills and Fisk had four kills. Cunningham downed three kills.

Jelissa Rozendaal put up two solo blocks, both against HLV. Chalking up one solo block during the day for the Hawks were Cunningham, Ritter, Russell and Lanser.

Lanser came up with 41 digs and Fisk had 28 digs. Russell and Makayla Rozendaal each had 23 digs, and Jelissa Rozendaal had 22 digs. Meyer had 20 digs.

Lynnville-Sully is 7-4 overall. The Hawks play at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Montezuma in South Iowa Cedar League play. They are 2-2 in conference action.
