A district court judge on Monday confirmed an Oct. 12 trial date for a Newton man charged with six counts of third-degree sexual abuse.
Jerry E. Fults, 35, was charged by the Newton Police Department in January after a 12-year-old girl reported multiple inappropriate contacts that spanned nearly one year.
According to a police report, the mother of the victim walked in on Fults making inappropriate contact with the victim and initiated the police investigation. Fults told police his lawyer advised him not to speak with authorities.
