Gary Timmons

Gary Timmons, 80, of Prairie City, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at Nelson Manor in Newton. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10 at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Burial with military rites will be at Waveland Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the funeral home. The son of Gale and Myrtle (Dykstra) Timmons, Gary was born Sept. 29, 1935, in Prairie City. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1953. Gary proudly served in the United States Army. On Dec. 31, 1995, he was united in marriage to Donna Campbell in Prairie City. Gary was a member of Pheasants Forever. Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and hunting mushrooms.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Donna; step children, Brenda Daily of Newton, Rodney Daily of Ira, and Gena Franklin of Newton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Virginia Timmons and Elva Timmons; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Preceding Gary in death were his parents; two brothers, Max and Harold Timmons; and a daughter-in-law, Tammy Daily.
