Newton Police Department

• Jessica L. Morris, 28, of Newton, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue East on a Jasper County warrant for trespass. She was taken to jail.

• Constance J. Docekal, 65, of Newton, is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief was given a summons to appear in court. The owner of a vehicle, that had apparently had paint damage made by a key in the Walmart parking lot along Iowa Speedway Drive Tuesday, told Newton Police she suspected Docekal, who was seen leaving the store while the victim was inside. The victim supplied the time and date. A Newton police officer reviewed video that showed Docekal walking out of the store and directly toward the victim’s vehicle. Docekal eventually admitted she inflicted the damage, estimated at $400, with her house key.

• Jeffrey G. Weathers, 19, of Newton, was arrested at the scene of a car accident Tuesday after it was discovered he had an outstanding Jasper County warrant for failure to appear for fingerprinting. Newton Police responded to an 11 p.m. report of a single-vehicle accident in which Weathers’ vehicle had struck a utility pole on the southeast corner of North Fourth Avenue East and East 31st Street North or Northeast Beltline. Weathers told police he swerved to avoid deer and followed the deer into a ditch. He was also cited for failure to maintain control. Damage estimates were $6,000 for the vehicle and $2,000 for the pole.

• Jessica L. Morris, 28, of Newton, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Sept. 1 in the 800 block of North Sixth Avenue East on a Jasper County warrant. She is charged with fifth-degree theft and simple misdemeanor trespass for an incident involving $100 that allegedly went missing from a wallet Aug. 11. On Aug. 12, Newton Police were called about a cash theft from a Skiff Medical Center staff member who needed to leave her office at about 3:35 p.m. and did not lock the office door. Video surveillance revealed a woman, identified as Morris, checking doors in an area not open to the general public, then hurrying away from the area near the victim’s office.

• Sklyer G. Kohrs, 21, of Newton, was charged with fifth-degree theft and given a summons to appear in court. At about 8:10 a.m. Wednesday, Newton Police were called to the West End Sinclair at 1323 First Ave. W. for a shoplifting incident. A cashier told police she witnessed Kohrs placing a metal tobacco grinder in his coat pocket. Kohrs admitted to taking the grinder, valued at about $21.
