PCM volleyball splits HOIC triangular at Saydel

DES MOINES — The Prairie City-Monroe volleyball team split a triangular at Saydel High School on Tuesday night.

The Mustangs swept host Saydel while getting swept by North Polk during Heart of Iowa Conference play.

In the 25-11, 25-17, 25-7 win over Saydel, senior Katie Vande Wall had seven kills, eight digs, six aces and was 13-of-15 in serves.

Sophomore Maddie Samson had four kills, while senior Kaylee Townsend added three kills.

Senior Kayla Jennings dished out 17 assists, served up five aces and was 22-of-24 in serves.

Senior Tatum Nearmyer finished with a team-high 11 digs and was 12-of-13 in serves, while junior libero Olivia Lippman collected 10 digs.

The Mustangs (4-13 overall, 1-1 in the HOIC) were 64-of-72 in serves in the match.

Saydel dropped to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in the HOIC.

The Comets (10-5, 2-0) defeated PCM 25-9, 25-18, 25-10.

Jennings delivered five assists, had eight digs and was 10-of-13 in serves. Townsend and Vande Wall both had three kills, while Vande Wall also had four digs and two aces. Lippman collected six digs and Nearmyer had four digs.

PCM returns to action in its home opener against Roland-Story at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15.
