Marshall County prosecutor quits before arrest

MARSHALLTOWN — A Marshalltown school board member who has resigned his post as a prosecutor has been charged with trespassing and theft. Online court records say Ben Stansberry was arrested Monday and has been released. The specifics of the allegations have not been released. Marshalltown Police Chief Mike Tupper didn’t immediately return a call. On Monday he said only that the incident remains under investigation.

Marshall County Attorney Jennifer Miller says Stansberry resigned from her office Friday, ending six years of service. Stansberry was elected to the Marshalltown school board in November.
