• Carnival in the Park will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Maytag Park west picnic shelter in Newton. This picnic and carnival has food provided free of charge. It’s an event to promote mental health and family unity. All children at the event must be supervised by an adult.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Sully Night Out Fourth Annual Cruizin’ the Square will begin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Sully Town Square in Sully.

• Pre-Percy Fair Pickin' at the Pavilion will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday at Prairie City Church of the Brethren, 12015 Highway S6G, five miles south of Prairie City or 7 miles west of Monroe on Hwy F70. Grab your guitar (mandolin, uke, harmonica, fiddle, etc.) for a circle jam session. Bring a snack to share if you like. Listeners are welcome.

• Bethany Church Ice Cream Social and Music in the Park will begin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethany Church, 5627 N. 95th Ave. W. in Baxter. The meal, pie and ice cream will be served at 4:30 p.m. with music starting at 6:30 p.m. in the park. Please bring a lawn chair. Featured music will be provided by “Shy of a Dozen” a cappella group, consisting of 11 members, all students at Iowa State University representing a wide variety of programs of study.
