Bethany Church will host its ice cream social and music in the park beginning at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, located one mile east of Baxter at 5627 N. 95th Ave. West.
Music will feature “Shy of a Dozen,” an a cappella group consisting of 11 Iowa State University students. The group includes Grant Luther, student leader and the son of Baxter 6-12 School Principal Rob Luther.
The group offers a wide variety of popular music, some written for a cappella group and some of their own arrangements with traditional instrumentation.

Social starts at 4:30 p.m. with a meal of pulled chicken or loose beef, hot dogs, German and American potato salad, baked beans and homemade pie and ice cream. There will be a freewill offering for the meal and the music.
Music starts at 6:30 p.m. in the park. Guests are asked to bring a lawn chair. The park has been sprayed for bugs.
The music will be inside in cases of rain or heat.
