Principal getting $50,000 settlement as he leaves post

BETTENDORF — A Bettendorf school administrator who’s been under scrutiny since a state report cited a potential conflict of interest will be paid $50,000 by the district as he leaves. The school board voted Monday to release Jimmy Casas from his contract to be the high school principal. He has a new job at the International Center for Leadership in Education in Rexford, New York. The state report issued May 26 noted Casas bought T-shirts for his staff related to a business in which he is involved.
