Bonnie M. Hansen

Bonnie M. (Freeborn) Hansen, 81, of Newton, died on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton. A celebration of life with a coffee time will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home & Crematory in Newton. A private family burial at the Newton Union Cemetery will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the family (Please make checks payable to one of the children and put Bonnie’s Memorial on the memo line). The memorials will be used for a project at the arboretum and may be left at the funeral home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Hansen Family on the envelope.

Those left to cherish Bonnie’s memory are her children, Michael (Brenda) Hansen of Newton, Connie Kearns of Newton, Craig (Deb) Hansen of Johnston, William (Cheryl) Hansen, Lori (Gary) Yoder, David (Sheri) Hansen and Leslie (Rick) McNew, all of Newton, Patrick (Lisa) Hansen of Kansas City, Mo., and Brad (Joleen) Hansen of Newton; 47 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; her brother, Francis (Linda) Freeborn of Des Moines; her sister-in-law, Doris Freeborn of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard in 2010; and brother, Sheldon.
