Grateful for swift response from Park Centre, Skiff

On Thursday, July 21, I went to Park Centre to visit my wife Velda, who is in rehab from a stroke. Upon arriving, we saw many patients and staff members on the Skiff Medical Center side of the street. I quickly knew there was not a parade on this street, so something else must be happening.

We were told not to go into Park Centre, as it was experiencing an emergency evacuation. All were soon taken in by Skiff and gathered in a large basement room, where they were served sack lunches and treated to a movie, “The Sound of Music.”

After 1 p.m., the Park Centre staff (with help from Skiff staff) took the patients/residents back to Park Centre. All was under control.

As a resident of this community for nearly 60 years, I felt the staff of both Park Centre and Skiff hospital did a tremendous service in this time of need.

Newton is blessed with this kind of service.
