Drop in wholesale ethanol prices

DES MOINES – The price of wholesale ethanol dropped $.13 this week, currently priced at $1.46 per gallon.

Crude Oil Summary

The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate by $.10 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $45.05.

Brent crude oil rose $.87, and is currently priced at $47.30.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $50.15 and Brent crude was at $56.42.

Motor Fuels

As of Tuesday, July 19th, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.16 across Iowa according to AAA. This is $.05 lower than one week ago and $.58 lower than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.19, $.03 lower than last week.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa were down a penny with a statewide average of $2.34. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.62 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is a penny lower than the national average of $2.35.

Wholesale ethanol prices were $.13 lower this week, closing at $1.46.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.36 for U87-E10, $1.58 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.45, ULSD#1 is at $1.61, and E-70 is priced at $1.65 per gallon.

Heating Fuels

Propane prices were down a penny from last month with a statewide average of $.97 per gallon. Home heating oil fell $.11 from last month’s figures, ending with a statewide average of $1.87. Natural Gas prices were $.06 higher at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.81 / MMbtu
