Doris Eileen Pille

Doris Eileen McConeghey Pille was born Sept. 7, 1924, to Fay Allen McConeghey and Keith Kenneth McConeghey. She was raised on a small farm near Monroe, in Jasper County. She was the second of five children born to Keith and Fay. After graduating from Monroe High School, she taught in local country schools for two years before moving to Newton, to work at Montgomery Wards. In February 1946, she met the love of her life, Arnold J. Pille, whom she married June 4, 1947. Together they moved to Des Moines, where they lived for 40 years before retiring to Longville, Minn. When Arnie’s health began to fail, they returned to Des Moines to be near family and friends.

Eileen passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, July 22, 2016, after a brief illness. She was preceded in death her parents; by her husband Arnie Pille; brother Keith Allen McConeghey; sisters Charlotte McConeghey and Vickie Herwehe; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She is survived by her brother, Miles (Mick) McConeghey; and her four children, Lauren (Joseph) Tiffany, Michael (Jane) Pille, Joel (Julie) Pille and Dana Pille (partner Michael Hamilton); and six grandchildren, Nathan (Julie) Robinson, Brian (Sarah) Pille, Sarah (Ryan) Lee, Karen (Jorge) Fernandez, Katherine (Jason) Buckner and Margaret Pille; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 25 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Des Moines, with a prayer service following at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 26 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with interment at 1:30 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery.
