Window Display and Visual Merchandising seminar open to local businesses

A Window Display and Visual Merchandising seminar open to local businesses. Newton Main Street will host a 60 minute instructional seminar on window displays and visual merchandising at 8 a.m. July 27 at the Chamber of Commerce.

The seminar is part of a grant of technical assistance awarded by Main Street Iowa to Newton Main Street in June.

The seminar, which features interactive activities and a graphics-oriented presentation, is geared toward retailers and restaurants but is open to the public. However, a limited number of seats are available and preference will be given to Main Street District businesses.

The technical assistance grant also includes one-on-one consultations with Main Street District businesses (as time allows), and plan, design and implementation of window displays or other visual merchandising improvements in three Main Street District retail businesses.

“Window displays can serve as major traffic drivers for any business,” according to an informational sheet distributed by Anna Woodward, the consultant Main Street Iowa contracted with to provide the technical assistance.

“This initial perception often helps determine the customer’s expected product quality, price point expectations and can be the number one determinant on whether or not they walk in the door,” according to Woodward.

Newton Main Street was one of 12 Main Street programs in Iowa to receive the grant through a competitive selection process. The technical assistance has an estimated market value of more than $1,000.

If you are interested in attending the seminar, please RSVP at newtonmainstreet@gmail.com or 641-792-5545.
