Forget being politically correct

I address and take respectful issue with the recent letter wishing to have the crosses removed of repainting of the memorial rock on our Newton courthouse lawn.

If we are to be politically correct with all crosses of any religions or other symbols, then I believe we need to remove all crosses at our Arlington Cemetery and to not allow any cross symbols.

With all do respect, cross symbols have been used in many religions and non-religions, but that too is another story. I believe the artist was expressing the graves of those who are buried at Arlington.

So, in my mind and many others, I believe until the crosses at Arlington are removed, they should be displayed in this way on our courthouse lawns and elsewhere.

I do understand and respect the feelings of the letter writer, yet, we can not be politically correct in all things.
