Newton man arrested after gun threats

Multiple children present during altercation

A Newton man was arrested for allegedly threatening a woman at gunpoint with several children present.

David E. Jensen, 52, is charged with child endangerment and going armed with intent after authorities were called at 6:20 p.m. Friday to the 600 block of East Fourth Street North.

Officers were called about a domestic situation and were advised a gun had been pulled on the victim. Officers found an angry Jensen who said he wanted the victim kicked out of the residence.

He initially had gone to the residence and began pointing at gun at the victim and threatening her. After the first interaction, Jensen returned with a crow bar and began threatening the victim again, according to two witnesses and the victim. During both altercations multiple children were present at the residence.

He was taken to the Jasper County Jail were he was released on $2,000 bond. A no contact order was issued against Jensen.
