Dana (Trusler) Sparks, 72, Baxter, went to heaven peacefully in her home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.

She was born in Newton, Iowa on July 26, 1943. Dana attended country school until eighth grade and then graduated from Newton High School in 1961. She went on to the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN for lab technician/phlebotomist.

Dana married and then later divorced LeRoy Sparks. They lived in Farrar until they returned back to the Baxter area where she lived out the rest of her life.

She was a lab tech/phlebotomist, wife and mother. She was also Co-owner, secretary and fertilizer delivery driver of SAAM Fertilizer. In August 2015, she retired from Pyramid Plastics of Newton. Over the years, she was an active member of the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ, holding various positions and a former member of the local Eastern Star chapter. She enjoyed her children, friends, making crafts, reading, bird watching and road trips.

She is proceeded in death by her parents Clifford Trusler and Wanda (Bowen) Trusler. She is survived by her children; Chet of Titusville, Fla., Kurt (Kim) of Baxter step-granddaughter Madison Bunn of Corallville and Shalia of Overland Park, Kan. She will be missed by many.

There will be a Celebration of Life luncheon held at the Baxter Congregational United Church of Christ on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested for donations to be made to Hospice, who lovingly took care of Dana for her last year. The Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory is handling the cremation.
