Sunday science program for kids at Neal Smith NWR

Children ages 6-10 are invited to bring their favorite adult and join a refuge naturalist to become a scientist for a day from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

The all new Sunday Scientist program will give students a chance to study science in nature, conduct experiments and search for wildlife up close. The topic for this month’s program will be “Winged Wonders.” The group will also go on a hike to search for butterflies.

The program is free and open to the public. Register for this program to ensure that Neal Smith NWR has enough materials and personnel to provide the best learning experience for all participants.

Sunday Science programs are educational experiences that are especially designed for young learners. Programs focus on engaging children in the outdoors by using hands-on and interactive activities.

To register or if you have questions, please contact Brianna Patrick at 515-994-3400 or
