• Alcoholics Anonymous Beginner’s Support Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Kurt Bearinger One-Man Acoustic Band will perform at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Greencastle Tavern in Mingo.

• Jake McVey will perform at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Cadillac Jack’s in Baxter.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Temple in Prairie City.

• Mr. Bear Mystery will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at Sunset Park in Newton. At Mr. Bear day camp students will be solving the mystery of who borrowed Mr. Bear. Use all your senses, problem solving and observation skills and then organize the clues. You and your friends can discover who borrowed Mr. Bear. Contact Kara Warrick at 641-792-6433. • Concerts in the Park will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Maytag Bowl at Maytag Park in Newton. The Newton Municipal Band will give a concert sponsored by Newton Parks and Recreation. Band is under the direction of NHS Director of Bands Jim Beerends.

• Penny Bingo will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Jasper County Senior Citizens Center, 702 E. Third St. S. in Newton.

• Rep. Loebsack ‘Serving those who Served’ will begin at 4 p.m. Friday at American Legion Post 111, 1101 W. Fourth St. S. in Newton. These forums give veterans and their families an opportunity to speak directly with Loebsack. Staff will also be on hand for veterans to seek assistance if they are having issues with the Veterans Administration, or any federal agency.
