Hunter education course to be offered

The Jasper County Conservation Board and the Emerson Hough Chapter of the Izaak Walton League will offer a Hunter Education Course from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 3 and Aug. 4 each day. The course will be at the Izaak Walton League clubhouse located northwest of Newton, just off of Highways 14 and F-36.

The Hunter Education Course is free and all materials will be provided. Attendees must be at least 12 years old to take the course.

It is necessary that students attend both days in order to receive certification. Students should also bring a sack lunch.

All hunter education registration must be completed online. The DNR requires creating an account online at www.iowadnr.gov/huntered before you can register for the course.

Children under 18 years old will be required to register under a parent or guardian’s account.

Workbooks for the course should be picked up in the conservation office prior to the course at 1030 W. Second St. S. in Newton.
