Errors plague PCM in lost to Comets

ALLEMAN — After waiting out a weather delay for a little more than an hour, the Prairie City-Monroe baseball team lost a competitive game against North Polk on Tuesday.

The Comets jumped out to a 5-0 lead but needed a pair of runs in the sixth inning to win its fourth straight during an 8-6 home win over the Mustangs.

PCM (7-14) dropped to 5-7 in Heart of Iowa Conference play. The Mustangs have lost three straight games and six of their last seven.

Senior Clay Cooper had two hits, one walk and two RBIs while scoring a run. Sophomore Noah Henkenius and freshman Brayton Van Dyke each finished one hit, one run and one walk.

Henkenius started on the mound and took the loss after allowing four earned runs and seven hits in five innings.

North Polk (11-6, 6-3) won its fourth straight game.

PCM hosts Collins-Maxwell/Baxter at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prairie City-Monroe.
