Elvis Costello’s solo ‘Detour’ comes to Hoyt Sherman Place on Oct. 6

Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame inductee Elvis Costello will be appearing at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at Hoyt Sherman Place. Tickets will go on sale at noon on June 24. Tickets can be purchased at the Hoyt Sherman box office, at www.ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000.

After playing a series of overseas shows, Elvis Costello will continue his solo “Detour” tour in the U.S. with 12 shows across the Midwest and South, including Austin City Limits Live in Austin, Texas, and Nashville’s legendary Ryman Auditorium.

These critically acclaimed “Detour” shows have been Costello’s first performances following the publication of his best-selling 2015 memoir, “Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink” (Blue Rider Press/Penguin Random House).

This October, expect the same “disarmingly revealing” and “uproariously funny” (LA Times) performances as Costello plays his best known songs and selected favorites with just a piano and guitar, all in front of a giant television set projecting family photos, mysteries, mottos and other mischief.

Here’s what Billboard has to say about Costello’s “Detour,” “the effects of writing and promoting [his memoir] are felt throughout his part-scripted, part-freestyle ‘Detour’ show, which takes into account that fans have to come to enjoy hearing Costello tell droll stories nearly as much as they like hearing him snarl and coo his way through one of the great songbooks of rock history.”
