• Dustin E. Pherigo, 31, of Newton, is charged with driving while license suspended after authorities pulled him over at 1:14 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of East Seventh Street North. He was cited and released to appear.
• Carrie J. Mericle, 42, of Des Moines, is charged with second-degree theft after authorities were called at 6:55 p.m. Saturday to 1200 First St. N. Officers identified a vehicle that had been reported stolen and saw Mericle get into the driver’s seat. She admitted to taking the vehicle. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
• Alion White, 31, of Newton, is charged with domestic abuse assault after authorities were called at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of Second Avenue East. Officers spoke with the victim who said White had held her down and shoved his fingers in her nose and ear. Officers saw blood on both the victim’s nose and ear. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
