Gilbert shuts down Raider baseball

COLLINS — The Collins-Maxwell/Baxter baseball team was held to three hits and committed six errors in the field during a 15-2, five-inning loss to Gilbert on Monday during Heart of Iowa Conference play.

CMB scored a run in each of the first two innings, but Gilbert scored four in the first, four in the third and five in the fourth to win easily.

Senior Brady Stover had one hit and scored a run at the plate. Brady Ross and Adam Smith had the other two hits, while Travis Lindemoen scored a run.

Lindemoen tossed the first three innings and allowed 13 runs — six earned — on 11 hits and walked five. Hunter McWhirter tossed two innings of relief. He allowed one hit and two unearned runs while striking out three and walking three.

Gilbert stranded 10 runners on base.

CMB dropped to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in HOIC play. The Raiders host North Polk at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
