Austin W. Hall, 80, of Newton, passed away June 11, 2016, from a long battle with heart disease. He never complained through all his illnesses and was a big teddy bear of a man, never wanting to hurt anyone’s feelings. A graveside service will take place at a later date at Wittemberg Cemetery in rural Newton. Memorials in Austin’s name may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Austin, the son of Ward and Dorothy (Getty) Hall, was born March 21, 1936, in Fort Wayne, Ind. On June 16, 1982, Austin was united in marriage with Julianne Walker Rodewald in Las Vegas, Nev. Austin worked in law enforcement.

Those left to honor Austin’s memory are his wife, Julie Hall of Newton; brother-in-law, James Walker of Newton; step-children, Thomas (Judy) Rodewald of Newton, Penny (Todd) Esrey of Newton, and Susie (Troy) Esrey of Wylie, Texas; his seven grandchildren, David, Adam, Katie, Anna, Gavin, Jacob and Kyle; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings, Clement “Butch” (Carmen) Hall of Mt. Prospect, Ill., Steve (Denise) Hall of Florida, Judy Milburn of Oregon, Jill (Don) Latham of Escondido, Calif., and Madeline Hall of Newport Beach, Calif.; and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jon.
