Newton Police Department

• Shawn N. Stevens, 35, of Newton, is charged with driving while license under suspension after authorities pulled him over at 1:27 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of First Avenue East. He was cited and released to appear.

• John V. Cupples, 41, of Newton, is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after authorities were called at 2:40 p.m. Friday to 1111 N. 11th Ave. E. He was found with an instrument used to ingest or inhale an illegal substance. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Perry N. Kleinendorst, 56, of Newton, is charged with possession of controlled substance after authorities were called at 8:42 p.m. May 27 to 1501 First Ave. E. Officers found a baggie with 2.5 grams of methamphetamine with Kleinendorst. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

• Nathan L. Miller, 27, of Kellogg, is charged with two counts of possession of controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while barred after authorities pulled him over at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday at 5681 Highway 6 E. Officers found small bag with methamphetamine and another with marijuana along with a syringe and spoon with Miller. He admitted to being a user, and he uses needles. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
