Gary O. Young

Gary Owen Young, 63, of Newton, died on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. His funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Memorials to the Salvation Army Food Pantry or to the donor’s choice may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home. Memorials may also be mailed to the funeral home, please add, Attn: Young Family on the envelope.

Those left to honor Gary’s memory are his wife, Deb of Newton; three sons, Matthew (Angela) Young of Des Moines, Jeremy (Jennifer) Parker of Des Moines and Joshua (Tiffany) McCollough of Des Moines; his eight grandchildren, Hannah, Isaac, Isabelle, David, Joe, Griffin, Gabriel and Paige; mother, Lela Young of Kellogg; his sister, Linda (Stan) Moan of Allenton, Mich.; his sister-in-law, Becky (Ken) Allen of Tulsa, Okla.; nieces; nephews; cousins; two aunts; an uncle; and many life-long friends who made his life much richer. The Lord had blessed him in many ways over the years.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Young; brothers, Larry D. Young and Wayne Wiley; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Gary’s family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Tom Buroker and to Dr. Patrick Edwards for the care that they gave to Gary.
