PCM baseball loses to Pleasantville

PRAIRIE CITY —The Prairie City-Monroe baseball team overcame an early deficit against Pleasantville on Friday night, buy a second hole was too much to dig out of for the Mustangs

The Trojans extended a 3-2 lead with a three-run sixth inning, and then held off a Mustang rally in the bottom of the seventh during a 6-4 victory in non-conference play.

PCM had five hits in the game. Tyler Foster had three hits and a run, while Gunnar Davis allowed two earned runs in five innings.

Pleasantville extended the lead to four off Brayton Van Dyke, who allowed two hits, two walks and three earned runs while striking out four.

Braden Phifer had a hit, an RBI, a walk and a stolen base. Austin Brown had the team’s other hit. Noah Clark scored a run and stole a base, and Preston Van Wyk stole three bases and a scored a run as a pinch hitter.

PCM started the season 3-0 but have since gone 1-5. The Mustangs try to get back on track at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Saydel.
