Newton Police Department

• Megan R. Astelle, 30, of Grinnell, is charged with operating while under the influence after authorities pulled her over at 2:17 a.m. May 22 in the 1100 block of First Avenue East. Officers saw a vehicle that went up on the curb multiple times. After making contact with Astelle, officers smelled alcohol and saw she had bloodshot, watery eyes. She admitted to having a couple of drinks earlier in the evening and had a BAC of .169. She was cited and released to appear.

• Deborah A. Miller, 47, of Newton, is charged with driving while barred after authorities pulled her over at 10:59 p.m. May 21 in the 200 block of First Avenue East. She was taken to the Jasper County Jail.

• Brian S. Williams, 29, of Newton, is charged with two counts of tampering with witness or juror after authorities were called at 10 a.m. May 25 to the 700 block of East Eighth Street North. Officers were told by the victim that Williams called her and made comments of a harassing nature, such as “you will pay.” Williams also came out of his residence when the victim was riding by and acted in an aggressive manner. He was taken to the Jasper County Jail.
