Marilyn Greene, 84, of Newton, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Newton Health Care Center. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 1 at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials to Our Savior Lutheran Church may be left at the funeral home.

Marilyn, the daughter of Harold and Hazel (Horn) Farland, was born Feb. 23, 1932, in Newton. She graduated from Newton High School. Marilyn was united in marriage with Richard Dean Greene. They lived in Newton, and then resided in California for more than 40 years. In 2002, they moved back to Newton. Marilyn was a homemaker and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She enjoyed keeping her house clean and collecting milk glass. Marilyn was a loving mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister and friend.

Marilyn is survived by her three sons, Regan (Karen) Greene of Crowley Lake, Calif., Scott (Linda) Greene of Newton and Richard (Barb) Greene, Jr. of Norwalk; 10 grandchildren, Jamie Greene-Rodriguez, Kylie Greene-Henning, Regan “Bubby” Greene, Casey Greene, Kelsey Greene, Tara Lucas, Abbie Myers, Janie Myers, Travis Swihart and Blake Swihart; her 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marjorie and Bert; and a brother, Jim. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Dean Green, Sr.; four brothers; and two sisters.
