Gordon Doyle Churchill, 90, passed away Saturday morning, May 28, 2016, at Nelson Manor in Newton. A time of remembrances for Doyle will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 2 at the Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. A time of fellowship and visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorials have been designated in Doyle’s name.

Doyle, the son of Ralph Offil and Nora Evelyn (Leader) Churchill, was born July 12, 1925, in Prairie City. He was a graduate of the Prairie City Senior High, Class of 1942. On Feb. 19, 1950, Doyle was united in marriage with Louise Binns in Oskaloosa. He devoted his life to his wife and family, and was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church. He loved the outdoors and to work the land, and actively farmed until his retirement in 1990.

Those left to honor Doyle’s memory include his daughters, Jolane “Jo” Williams of Augusta, Ga., and Jane (Bruce) Keith of Newton; his two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; his brother Hubert (Wilma) Churchill of Newton; and his many friends.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise; one sister Evelyn Brashear; and three brothers, Lester Churchill, Harold Churchill and Dwight Churchill.
