• Curbside Clean-up Day will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday in Prairie City.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Peer Support for those living with mental illness will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at Optimae Life Services, 1730 First Ave. E. in Newton.

• Memorial Day Open House will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John’s Cemetery in Newton. The public is invited to attend. If you have any questions, contact Doug or Lori Korte at 641-792-8164.

• Ira Memorial Day service will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday at Union Chapel in Ira. The congregation of the Ira United Church will pay a special tribute.

• Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Wittemberg Church Historical Society pancake breakfast will begin at 7 a.m. Monday at Wittemberg Church in Newton. Menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, assorted pastries, orange jucie and coffee. Your freewill donations will help maintain this Jasper County landmark. Memorial Day Services will follow at 9 a.m.

• Ashton Memorial Day Services will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at Ashton Chapel, 8887 W. 122nd St. N. in Mingo. The public is invited to celebrate the freedom of our nation, honor our veterans and remember our ancestors. The American Legion of Mingo will present a 21-gun salute.

• Memorial Day Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at Newton Union Cemetery, W. Fourth Ave. N. and N. 19th Ave. W. and is sponsored by Jasper County Veterans Council.

• Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at noon and 7 p.m. Monday at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

• Congressman Dave Loebsack’s District Representative Bri Dennison will host open office hours at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Uncle Nancy’s Coffeehouse & Eatery, 114 N. Second Ave. W. in Newton.

• The Newton Rotary Club will meet at noon Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 620 S. Eighth Ave. E. The program will be presented by Keri Van Zante Director with the Jasper County Conservation Board. Kari will be talking about what to watch out for in the woods this summer. • Dinners on Tuesday, a free meal, will begin at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Life Church, 421 S. Second Ave W. in Newton. Everyone welcome. Dinner will be in the basement of the church.
