IOWA CITY — The Iowa City police chief is retiring after leading the department for over a decade. City officials announced Monday that Police Chief Sam Hargadine will retire from the Iowa City Police Department at the end of June. He has accepted a position as the executive director of the Iowa Police Chief’s Association. He was recently honored with the association’s Police Chief of the Year award.
