St. Stephens Episcopal to host confirmation, bishop visit June 12

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church will host confirmation and a visit from Bishop Alan Scarfe at its 10 a.m. service June 12 at the church, 223 E. Fourth St. N. in Newton.

Confimands Emiy, Serena and Olivia will be confirmed. Their community outreach projects benefit Heifer International, Jasper County Animal Rescue League, a fair trade organization Equal Exchange and Thistle Farms.

Bishop Scarfe was elected the ninth bishop of Iowa at a special diocesan convention in November 2002. He is the 983rd Episcopal bishop consecrated in the United States.
