Slow start dooms PCM girls in loss to Bombers

HUXLEY — Ballard scored all five of its goals in the first half, and the Prairie City-Monroe girls’ soccer team couldn’t overcome it during a 5-2 road loss Monday night.

The Bombers led 5-0 at halftime and won for the sixth time in seven matches to improve to 6-2 on the year.

PCM falls to 5-10 on the season and has lost six of its last eight games. Four of the Mustangs’ 10 losses have come to ranked foes. Ballard dropped out of the rankings last week.

Abby Waddell scored her 15th goal of the season for the Mustangs, while Jessica Albright added a penalty-kick goal. It was Albright’s third of the season.

PCM plays at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Chariton before hosting Knoxville at 7 p.m. Friday.
