Jasper County GOP open headquarters

The Jasper County Republican Central Committee held its monthly meeting April 25 at Fore Seasons Golf Center.

Elected officials who spoke include State Central Committeewoman Marianette Miller-Meeks, National Committeewoman Tamara Scott, Regional Political Director Austin Harris, and Jasper County Supervisor Denny Carpenter.

Those seeking election this fall who spoke included Mark Sutter who is running for Jasper County Supervisor Patrick Payton who is running for Iowa House of Representatives from District 29, and Christopher Peters who is running for the United States House of Representatives from Iowa’s second district.

Plans for a third annual Jasper County Republican Trapshoot were discussed as well as parade plans. The party is working on having more a presence on social media including Twitter @JasperGOP and Facebook at Jasper County IA GOP.

The new Jasper County Republican Headquarters is at 207 First Ave. W. in Newton. There will be a grand opening at 7 p.m. May 23. Iowa Republican Party Chair Jeff Kaufmann will be the keynote speaker. Pizza and pop will be provided.
