DUBUQUE — Authorities say a 67-year-old rural Dubuque man has been charged with several crimes after he fired several shots near his wife and son.
Thomas Steines is charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and other crimes. He remained in Dubuque County custody Thursday. Online court records don’t list the name of an attorney who could speak for Steines.
Court documents say Suzette Steines told officers she and her husband were arguing the morning of April 27 when he got a handgun and fired at her. Their son Michael lives with them, and he told officers his dad fired a shot past him.
Suzette and Michael Steines both told officers they think Thomas Steines was trying to intimidate them, not kill them. Michael Steines says his father had been drinking.
