Iowan interrupts jury selection by changing plea to guilty

DES MOINES — A man charged with vehicular homicide changed his mind and decided to plead guilty, interrupting jury selection for what would have been his trial in Des Moines.

Thirty-four-year-old Michael Liggett, of Monroe, took the action Wednesday. Liggett is scheduled to be sentenced July 1.

The Iowa State Patrol has said 20-year-old Clayton Harsin, of Knoxville, was killed while riding his motorcycle north of Knoxville in August 2014.
