PCM girls lose to Lions

MONROE — Prairie City-Monroe broke a scoreless tie early in the second half, but Des Moines Christian answered with three quick goals during a 3-1 road win on Tuesday night.

Senior McKinzie Tjaden got the Mustangs on the board in the second half after a scoreless first half. It was her second goal of the season.

Des Moines Christian (2-3) though responded with three consecutive goals, led by freshman Alex Reeder’s two goals. Megan Long had two assists and Megan Brightman had a goal and an assist for the Lions, which won their second straight match after starting 0-3.

PCM (3-8) has lost four straight matches. Freshman Caitlyn Walters had the first assist of her high school career, while sophomore McKeely Tjaden had 12 saves in the loss.

The Mustangs took 24 shots and had a 12-11 shots on goal advantage.

PCM plays at 7 p.m. Monday at Knoxville.
