Style show back at First Presbyterian

The spring style show and luncheon is back at the First Presbyterian Church. Following a two year break, the show returns on a new day and with a new clothing provider.

To draw a larger crowd, the show switched from a Friday date to 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 14 and will feature clothing from The Hall Tree in Pella.

“Two years ago, we did the style show with the luncheon as a fundraiser for our mission committee. We partnered with Mode Huis when they were here in town,” organizer Mickey Van Baale said.

The church held a spring and fall show but were left without a clothing provider when Mode Huis closed. Waiting until the right opportunity came along, the church waited to host the show for a couple of seasons.

“It was something we really enjoyed and a good money maker so we kept our ears to the road. Then, one of our church members spoke with the owner of The Hall Tree in Pella and told her what we had done before and she said that she would be interested in doing the style show,” Van Baale said.

Details were discussed and The Hall Tree became the new clothing provider of the show.

For those who attended the show previously, the rest of the event will be very familiar. Linda Campbell and her kitchen helpers will once again be preparing a delicious meal and gentlemen of the church will be dressed in tuxedos and acting as waiters for the evening.

“The style show will feature the models walking around the tables while the guests are eating,” Van Baale said.

Tickets for the show are $20 per person and seating will be limited to 85 people for the event.

“That is a good number we can get in our fellowship hall,” Van Baale said.

Tickets are available at the church office, 200 N. Second Ave. E., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Funds raised from the event will go toward the church mission fund for various missions supported by First Presbyterian throughout the year.

“The money is for such a worthy cause for our church and it will be a fun experience for all,” Van Baale said.
