PCM girls take third at West Marshall

STATE CENTER — Playing 18 holes on back-to-back days, the Prairie City-Monroe girls golf team placed third at the West Marshall Invitational at Lincoln Valley Golf Course on Tuesday.

Junior Breanna Maher shot a second consecutive round of sub-90. She finished third overall with an 87 as the Mustangs carded a 403.

Defending Class 1A champion Grundy Center won the title with a 366, while Nevada was the runner-up with a 370. BCLUW was fourth with a 405.

Maher’s 87 was four shots behind Grundy Center’s Kate Ross and two strokes back of Nevada’s Claire Ausman.

The other counting scores for PCM were sophomore Madeline Mitchell’s 101, junior Courtney Bridges’ 106 and sophomore Ellie Steenhoek’s 109. Senior Abby Van Haaften shot a 114 and sophomore Sabrina Reed carded a 117.
