Protestant prayer beads class Sunday

United Presbyterian Church and United Methodist Church are hosting a Protestant Prayer Beads class at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Presbyterian Church, 209 N. Second Ave. E. in Newton. Participants are asked to use the east door.

The event, hosted by Margaret Caldwell and Martha Chancellor, will involve hands-on learning about the history and practice of using prayer beads to enrich prayer life. Participants will select beads and make a set to take home. This event is open to the public.

Cost is $15 for cost of materials. The book “A Bead and a Prayer” by Kristen E. Vincent is available for an additional $8.

The book is a supplement to class materials and isn’t needed for class.
